If a patient suddenly develops a fever, there must be a cause, such as a viral infection, bacterial infection, or tuberculosis infection that can cause a sudden onset of high fever. Patients should first go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment to find out which cause is responsible for the fever, then they can take antipyretic drugs to lower the body temperature, or use ice packs wrapped in towels on the head, armpits, groin, or alcohol wipes to achieve the effect of physical cooling. You can also take drugs with anti-inflammatory effects, such as amoxicillin and cephalosporins. Patients should drink more water during the fever to replenish the body’s water needs in time to avoid electrolyte disorders.
