Patients with milder intestinal infections may heal themselves in 3-7 days, but those with more severe infections cannot heal themselves. Intestinal infection is an infectious disease caused by bacteria or viruses. If the infection is mild and the patient has strong resistance, he/she may gradually get better after excreting harmful substances through vomiting or diarrhea, and may heal on his/her own within 3-7 days; if the infection is severe or the patient has weak resistance, he/she cannot heal on his/her own and needs to be treated accordingly. Viral infections require only symptomatic treatment, such as rehydration, antidiarrheal, and protection of gastric mucosa, and can usually be cured in 5-7 days. Bacterial infections can be treated symptomatically along with pathogenic treatment with sensitive antibiotics such as cephalosporin III and quinolone antibiotics, usually cured in 3-5 days. Patients with intestinal infection should pay attention to avoid unclean diet, drink more water, choose light and easily digestible food, pay attention to rest, and also eat foods that are good for stopping diarrhea, such as yam, hawthorn and apple.
