What is coronary heart disease?

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is also known as ischemic heart disease. The average prevalence of coronary heart disease in China is about 6.49%, and the prevalence increases with age, making coronary heart disease the most common cardiovascular disease in the elderly. The full name of coronary heart disease is coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, also known as ischemic heart disease. The pathogenesis of coronary heart disease is not completely clear, when the coronary arteries have severe atherosclerosis causing luminal narrowing or obstruction, or on the basis of this combined spasm, thrombosis aggravates the luminal obstruction, causing insufficient blood supply to the coronary arteries that nourish the heart, myocardial ischemia, hypoxia or infarction of a heart disease. Generally speaking, when the degree of coronary stenosis is ≥50%, it can be called coronary heart disease, and when the degree of coronary stenosis is ≥75%, clinical symptoms of angina pectoris can appear. World Health Organization (WHO) clinical classification criteria for coronary heart disease: 1, angina pectoris coronary heart disease, angina pectoris can be divided into exertional angina and spontaneous angina; 3, myocardial infarction coronary heart disease; 4, sudden death coronary heart disease; Currently, the main risk factors for coronary heart disease in the whole population are traditional risk factors such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, smoking, diabetes mellitus and family history, among which hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes mellitus and smoking are considered to be the main risk factors for coronary heart disease. It is also estimated that 2/3 of coronary heart disease is caused by the single or combined effect of these three factors.
