Soft tissue edema can be the result of an injury to the body, such as swelling under the skin. It can be described as soft tissue edema or hypoproteinemia. It can also be expressed as soft tissue edema after major surgery with very poor nutritional status resulting in fluid accumulation inside the abdominal cavity, ascites, and edema of the lower extremities, or generalized edema. Depending on the cause, different treatment modalities are used. Soft tissue edema caused by trauma is mainly caused by trauma and manifests as tissue fluid exudation. It can be treated by applying local cold compresses to reduce the enlargement of the mass, or by applying local heat compresses after 1 or 2 days, with the aim of promoting blood circulation. If the edema is caused by hypoproteinemia, the cause should be corrected first, that is, enteral parenteral nutrition or the input of human albumin to correct the low protein level in the body, so that the tissue edema and ascites can be eliminated.
