High myopia combined with cataract

With the continuous development of information technology and the enrichment of electronic life products, people’s living habits are constantly changing, one of the important changes is that the use of electronic products in life is getting longer and younger, and these changes have led to a trend of increasing the prevalence of myopia year by year. The number of people with high myopia is also increasing and developing towards a younger age.

With high myopia, a person’s eyes become longer and there are some changes in the structure of the eye. For example, if the normal eye is like a 5 square meter room with a table, chairs, benches, chandeliers, and other household items in a compact and orderly arrangement, after high myopia, it becomes 8 square meters, and the structure of the eye will change accordingly. For better lighting, the chandelier wires will become longer, but when the wires become longer, they will become thinner, and the ability to provide electricity will decrease, and the electric lights will become dim.

Similarly, with high myopia, the suspensory ligament of the lens in the eye becomes longer and thinner, and the ability of the nutrient pipeline to deliver nutrients during the period decreases, making cataracts appear earlier than normal.

Therefore, cataract patients with high myopia will have increased surgical difficulty. Patients may consider going to a hospital with better technical conditions to receive surgical treatment.
