What are the signs of a broken foot that injures the tendon?

The clinical manifestations of a sprained ankle injury to the tendon (i.e. ligament) include pain and swelling of the ankle joint, subcutaneous bruising and ecchymosis, limitation of activities, joint instability, etc.

1. Pain and swelling: ligament injury caused by ankle sprain can injure the surrounding tissue structure, causing local inflammatory reaction, resulting in localized pressure pain, and ankle joint pain and swelling. In the acute stage, braking and resting should be done immediately, and the limb should be elevated, and ice packs should be given within 72 hours to relieve the symptoms of pain and swelling.

2. Subcutaneous bruises and ecchymosis: ligament injury can cause some blood vessels to rupture and bleed, and the bleeding penetrates into the skin, resulting in bruises and ecchymosis around the ankle joint. After 72 hours of ligament injury, hot compresses can be applied to activate blood circulation and eliminate ecchymosis.

3. Limitation of activities: the pulling and contracting of ligaments form the movement of the ankle joint in all directions, and ligament injury can lead to limitation of ankle joint activities. For example, injury of lateral collateral ligament can lead to limitation of ankle external rotation, injury of medial collateral ligament can lead to limitation of ankle internal rotation, and rupture of Achilles tendon can lead to limitation of tiptoe movement. In addition, swelling and pain in the ankle joint can cause limitation of ankle joint movement.

4. Joint instability: ankle ligament is an important structure to maintain the stability of the ankle joint, ligament injury does not get timely formal treatment, can lead to ankle joint instability, manifested as activity popping, ankle sprains can also lead to ligament laxity phenomenon.

The performance of ligament injury is complex and varied, need to use the relevant examination in order to clearly diagnose, should go to the hospital in a timely manner, do not judge on your own, so as not to affect the treatment.
