Teach you five moves to easily cope with pre-examination anxiety

Not long ago, a sophomore boy came to me for treatment. He told me that he was about to take his final exams, and he could not sleep until after 1:00 at night and woke up before 5:00 in the morning, but his grades had been mediocre, plus his parents had promised to take him to Xiamen if he did well in the final exams. But when he thought of the exam, he was panicked and anxious, always lost in his books, and his memory was not good, so he was helpless and did not know what to do.        Listening to this student’s description, I couldn’t help but remember a scene that happened at the Sochi Winter Olympics in ’14. In both the figure skating team and women’s singles skating competitions, Japanese star Mao Asada had high expectations. She had completed a difficult three-and-a-half-week continuous rotation in the air at the last Winter Olympics in Vancouver, which was a stunning performance. However, in both games, she made a major mistake and fell on the ice, and had no chance to win a medal. After the match, Mao Asada herself said, “Nervousness, stress and going into the match in a state of not being organized was a big reason for the loss.” It can be said that Mao Asada did not lose in terms of technique, but was crushed by the psychological pressure.        Life is like a race, and it is normal for students to have some degree of nervousness or anxiety before the exam. What’s more, moderate tension can also maintain the excitement of learning, improve learning efficiency and stimulate learning potential. The first thing you need to do is to get a good idea of what you are getting into. The most important thing is that the class is called “the most cattle bottle class”. Unfortunately, the class of more than 5O students, in this year’s college entrance examination due to excessive pressure are not normal play, no one reached a line.        So, how to overcome the anxiety before the college entrance examination? Teach you five strokes easily to get.       The first move: identify yourself: psychology has a “Su Dongpo effect”, from the “do not know the true face of Mount Lu, only the body in the mountain”. It means that if a person does not have a correct perception of his or her academic performance and sets too high a goal, serious anxiety will arise. Therefore, one should be good at objectively evaluating oneself, correctly perceiving one’s own performance, and setting feasible learning goals.       The second trick: positive self-reference: such as “I can do it”, “I think I’m good at myself”, etc., can increase self-confidence, overcome anxiety, which in psychology is called self-success prophecy. There is a story: In ancient times, a candidate went to the capital to take the examination and stayed in an inn at night. When the innkeeper found out, he said, “Yes, it means the first prize is in your pocket. Candidates listened to confidence to go to the examination, the results of the examination into the top three.         The third trick: moderate exercise: exercise can eliminate some of the chemicals that cause anxiety, so that the spirit of relaxation, happy mood. You can also try to learn to “adjust breathing”. Sitting or lying down, first slowly inhale, then stop for a few seconds, and then exhale, so repeat a few more times. It can relax the mood, to relieve anxiety, tension is particularly useful.       Fourth trick: do what interests you most. Students feel that reading books every day is monotonous and annoying, it may be appropriate to put down the homework at hand, do something of interest, such as listening to music, watching TV, reading novels, etc..       Fifth trick: emotional catharsis. Emotional catharsis is an important means of relieving stress and maintaining mental balance.       Tell your nervousness and anxiety to your relatives or friends to get adjusted inside yourself; or find a suitable place to cry or laugh out loud, all of which can relieve anxiety. The college entrance exam is a life adjustment, not a fixation of fate. I hope students will experience the hard work, not the heaviness, in this meaningful process. To achieve, success is also heroic and defeat is also honorable.
