Growth hormone is mainly secreted at night during sleep. In contrast, cortisol represents the morning-secreting hormone. This hormone is alternately secreted with growth hormone, and its secretion rises from the morning onwards, with a particular peak at the time of waking.
Growth hormone absorbs various nutrients from the body to promote the growth of bones and muscles, i.e. it acts as a nutrient store. On the contrary, cortisol, although it consumes a little of the stored nutrients, has the role of dispersing stress. A life without stress does not exist. Therefore, this hormone plays a very significant role in guarding our lives.
But if there is too much stress, cortisol will be secreted in excess of the normal amount, and as a result, the stored nutrients will be used up, meaning that the nutrients eaten into the body will not be absorbed by the body at all.
Since children’s life at school may be full of stress, please at least let children have a relaxed and happy life at home, especially before going to bed. In order to reduce the secretion of cortisol, which should not be secreted at night, and to achieve the normal alternate secretion with growth hormone, parents should try to talk to their children about funny things to make them fall asleep with a smile.
