Young adults, especially many adolescent males, are often troubled by cystic swellings on their faces – powdery tumors – and are at their wits’ end. Either they take medication to make the cyst fade away slowly and leave scars, or they undergo surgery to remove it, leaving long surgical scars that affect their facial aesthetics and cause a lot of trouble. So many times patients wonder: Is there any way to remove their powdery tumors without leaving scars or with minimal scars? Then I will introduce a Chinese surgical method for treating powdery mildew that will satisfy your wish! Let’s first introduce how powdery tumors are formed. The name powdery tumor is a common name, and its scientific name is Sebaceous cyst (sebaceous cyst). Sebaceous cysts are mainly retained cysts formed by blockage of the sebaceous excretory ducts and the sebaceous epithelium is swollen by the gradually increasing contents. The cyst is filled with white curd-like sebaceous secretions. They are commonly found on the face where sebaceous glands are abundant, small ones like beans and large ones like small citrus. The cysts are round, located within the skin and protrude towards the skin surface, with the cyst wall closely adherent to the skin and may have a small pigmented spot in the center. The cysts can be clinically differentiated from epidermoid cysts based on this main feature. The grayish-white curd-like, foul-smelling contents may occasionally escape. 2, sebaceous cysts occur slowly, are round, clearly bounded by surrounding tissues, soft in texture, no pressure pain, and movable. Generally there are no conscious symptoms. 3, sebaceous cysts secondary to infection can be manifested as: local skin redness, swelling, softening, skin temperature, pain, pus. Modern medical treatment: usually surgical excision under local anesthesia. A shuttle-shaped incision is made in the direction of the dermatoglyphic pattern of the face, and the skin including the adhesion to the cyst wall should be removed, and the cyst wall is removed by sharp separation after cutting the skin. Although the surgical treatment of acne can remove acne quickly, it also tends to leave a long linear scar on the face, which affects the aesthetics. So is there a way to quickly remove acne without leaving scars or minimizing the scars that have already formed? The answer is yes, and that is the magic of fire needling. Fire needling is a traditional Chinese medical treatment method in our homeland, which is called “pricking” and “burning needle” in ancient times. -It is also applicable to the treatment of sebaceous cysts. After disinfecting the cyst with iodine, under local anesthesia (superficial or small cysts can be treated without local anesthesia), a three-pronged fire needle is burned red under an alcohol lamp and punctured on the top of the cyst to squeeze out the white secretion and part of the cyst wall inside the cyst, then bandaged and topical antibacterial medication is applied. The whole operation takes about 10 minutes, giving full play to the simplicity of fire-needle treatment and, most crucially, leaving no scars and meeting the aesthetic requirements of adolescent friends.
