What causes stomach bleeding due to alcohol consumption

Drinking leads to gastric bleeding for the following three reasons: First, a large number of drinkers, ethanol can cause acute gastric mucosal lesions, especially high concentrations of alcohol in the direct destruction of the gastric mucosal barrier at the same time, so that the gastric cavity of hydrogen ions diffuse into the gastric mucosa to further aggravate the damage to the gastric mucosa, eventually leading to gastric mucosal erosion bleeding caused by acute erosive hemorrhagic gastritis, clinical manifestations of vomiting blood after drinking. Second, long-term heavy drinkers, due to the toxic effects of ethanol and its metabolites can cause alcoholic hepatitis, followed by the development of cirrhosis, patients are often accompanied by portal hypertension, resulting in esophageal – gastric fundic varices and portal hypertensive gastropathy, which is an important cause of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Third, heavy alcohol consumption can cause acute pancreatitis, and severe pancreatitis can be complicated by gastrointestinal mucosal hemorrhage and focal necrosis, with clinical manifestations of vomiting blood and black stools.
