Do you need to be hospitalized for stomach bleeding?

Whether a patient with gastric bleeding needs to be hospitalized depends on the patient’s etiology and the amount of bleeding. Patients are advised to undergo gastroscopy to clarify the specific situation. If the bleeding is small, a small amount of coffee-colored vomit, or positive fecal occult blood but no change in stool color, it is a small amount of bleeding and the patient can take omeprazole, Yunnan Baiyao, thioglycollate and other drugs as prescribed by the doctor, and general outpatient treatment is sufficient. If the bleeding is relatively large, the bleeding is considered to be caused by gastric ulcer bleeding, gastric ulcer perforation or esophageal variceal rupture, etc. Patients need to be hospitalized for fasting, infusion treatment, and in serious cases, gastroscopy to do microscopic hemostasis. Patients with gastric bleeding should maintain a regular diet in their daily life and abstain from smoking, alcohol and spicy, stimulating foods. Pay attention to the warmth of the abdomen to avoid catching cold.
