What is the significance of pricking and bleeding?

The main method of acupuncture and moxibustion for ligament diseases is to pierce the ligament and release blood. This method is given great importance in the Nei Jing, and 40 of its 162 articles are devoted to it. According to the Nei Jing, the first step in the treatment of any disease is to get rid of the blood stasis in the blood vessels, that is, as stated in Su Wen. As stated in the chapter of “Three Parts and Nine Hieroglyphs”, “We must first remove the blood vessels and then regulate them, without asking the disease, in order to pacify them.” This also means that unblocking the blood vessels and veins by pricking them is the basic treatment for various diseases. For the disease of the body surface, pricking and releasing the blood can directly reach the disease, directly attack the evil and go straight to its channels, and its efficacy is far better than drug treatment. For example, drug treatment of varicose veins in the lower extremities is like scratching an itch, but we have received good results with the use of fire needle and blood pricking treatment. For the deeper ligament disease in the body, drug treatment is better than acupuncture. However, since the meridians are connected and the internal organs of the body are related, bloodletting by pricking the meridians on the body surface is also helpful in treating the internal meridian diseases. If the blood is not properly used, it can consume the qi and hurt the yin and move the blood. If it is supplemented by acupuncture, the amount of medicine can be reduced to achieve the purpose of reducing the toxic side effects of drugs. For those who are weak and intolerant to medicine, acupuncture is also a good way. Blood pricking is not simply to remove blood stasis in the body’s surface veins, but also has many other therapeutic effects. 1, reduce fever and fire: fever, according to Chinese medicine, there are two main conditions, one is Yang Sheng fever, one is Yin deficiency fever. In addition, there is also Qi deficiency fever. The effect of stabbing blood to reduce fever is mainly applicable to Yang Sheng fever, because Yang Sheng is bound to lead to blood Sheng. Yang Sheng fever is mostly caused by external evil, and bloodletting therapy is good for reducing fever due to external wind-heat, heat and toxin congestion, and heat entering the blood. Bloodletting can reduce the blood prevalence to alleviate the heat in the body, thus playing a role in reducing fever. According to Chinese medicine, “excess qi is fire”. Excessive emotion can turn fire, and spicy and stimulating, fatty and oily food can turn fire. If the stomach fire is too much, gum swelling and pain can occur; heart fire can appear on the inflammation of the mouth and tongue sores, restlessness, and even fever delirium; liver fire may appear on the inflammation of irritability, fire eyes, dizziness and other symptoms. The Qi of the human body is based on blood, and at the same time goes in and out with the blood. Forcing the blood out through pricking the ligaments can release the excessive Yang Qi, thus improving the Yang state and bringing the Qi and blood of the body into balance, thus pricking the blood has a diarrheal effect. As for Yin deficiency and Qi deficiency fever, this method is generally not suitable. 2.Anti-pain effect: According to Chinese medicine, “if it passes, it does not hurt; if it hurts, it does not pass”, which means that any disease with painful symptoms must have a blockage in the relevant meridians. Stabbing the blood can directly force the blood out, drain the blood stasis and clear the meridians, so the pain can stop immediately. Many acute clinical conditions, such as sore throat, migraine, etc., can be treated satisfactorily with bloodletting therapy. 3, detoxification effect: Blood pricking is very effective in treating the symptoms of poisonous evil in the body, such as “red silk furuncle”, and sores caused by poisonous evil infiltration. Bloodletting not only discharges the poisonous evil that has invaded the body or is internally generated with the blood, but more importantly, it restores the body’s function to normal by regulating the blood and regulating the qi, so as to inhibit the regeneration and spread of poisonous evil. 4.Anti-itching effect: “itch” is a symptom that the ancients believed to be a manifestation of wind and qi existing in the blood vessels, thus the treatment principle of “treating the wind first by treating the blood, and the wind will be extinguished when the blood is flowing”. Pricking the blood is to “regulate the blood and regulate the qi”, and the blood circulation will have nothing to keep the “wind” qi, thus achieving the effect of wind and stopping itching. 5.Anti-swelling effect: “swelling” is mostly caused by stagnation of qi and blood and stagnation of meridians. Bloodletting can directly exclude the local meridians “Ivana Chen” of qi and blood and disease, so as to promote the smooth flow of meridians without obstruction, and naturally achieve the purpose of swelling. 6, the treatment of numbness: Chinese medicine believes that some numbness symptoms are due to a deficiency of qi can not be handsome blood to the extremities. Bloodletting treatment of numbness, is guided by the theory of “blood circulation and qi circulation”, with a three-pronged needle or milli-needle into the acupuncture point of the affected limb, releasing a small amount of blood, can stimulate the qi to make blood flow to the extremity, and the numbness will stop. 7, anti-vomiting effect: nausea, vomiting mostly belong to stomach heat or liver qi transverse offense stomach or food stagnation. Blood pricking therapy can relieve heat and calm the liver rebellion, and help dredge the stomach and internal organs to help digestion. 8.Stopping diarrhea: Blood pricking therapy can treat heat diarrhea caused by the accumulation of food and heat in the stomach and intestines, or diarrhea caused by the epidemic of the time, which is caused by the indistinguishability of clear and turbid, etc. The mechanism is to lower the heat in the small intestine by diarrhea, and play the role of ascending the clear and lowering the turbid. 9, wake up and save the soul: clinical application of blood pricking therapy to treat coma, convulsions, epilepsy and heat stroke and other critical illnesses, simple and effective. The “Qiankun Sheng interval” has recorded: “Where the middle school wind fall, fainting, phlegm and saliva congestion, unconsciousness, teeth closed, medicine water not down, urgent prick the finger twelve well points with a three-pronged needle, when to remove the bad blood. Also treats all violent death, unconsciousness, and colic gua, is a wonderful trick to bring back to life.” It can be seen that the ancients mostly used blood pricking therapy for first aid treatment. These therapeutic effects of blood pricking are based on the theory of meridians and qi and blood in Chinese medicine, which are inseparable. Professor He Puren, a master of Chinese medicine, proposed the doctrine of “moving qi with blood” and “bringing qi with blood”, and elevated the bloodletting method to an important method of the three methods of acupuncture and moxibustion – the “strong method”. The “strong-passage method” is to achieve multi-faceted therapeutic effects through dexterous techniques, appropriate bleeding volume, forcing the blood out, strong pricking, and fast, so that the evil will come out with the blood, eliminating stasis and opening up the closed channels, unblocking the veins and collaterals, making the meridians and blood flow smoothly, and thus achieving multi-faceted therapeutic effects. Stabbing blood not only releases blood stasis, but also stimulates the blood vessel walls, which are rich in nerves and some have endocrine cells, so stimulating blood vessels also has a neuroendocrine regulating effect, and its specific mechanism deserves further study.
