How long does it take to die from shock

The time of death from shock varies from several minutes to several days, and some shock patients may survive for a long time after timely correction, which is related to the urgency of the disease, the cause of shock, the patient’s compensatory capacity and whether the treatment measures are timely and appropriate. Hemorrhagic shock caused by massive blood loss can lead to death within minutes if it cannot be corrected with rehydration within a short period of time. Patients with cardiogenic shock due to massive myocardial infarction may die at any time due to cardiac arrest if their own compensatory capacity is low and their heart perfusion pressure is low, resulting in myocardial ischemia and hypoxia. In case of infectious shock, with effective anti-infective treatment, life may be saved and death due to shock may be avoided. In case of anaphylactic shock, without timely anti-allergy treatment, the patient may develop laryngeal edema or even cardiac arrest, which may also lead to death within a few hours. If a patient with shock manifestations is found, family members or bystanders must seize all the time to send him/her to the emergency department or notify the emergency physician as soon as possible to race against time to save lives, without delay.
