Surgical methods for lung cancer

Lung cancer is currently the number one cause of cancer deaths worldwide, with 600,000 deaths worldwide in 1995, and the number is increasing every year. The incidence of lung cancer in women in particular is on the rise. The cause of lung cancer is still not completely clear, and a lot of information shows that the risk factors of lung cancer include smoking, air pollution, and occupational factors. Lung cancer does not have any special symptoms in early stage, but only symptoms common to general respiratory system diseases, such as cough, sputum and blood, low fever, chest pain and tightness, which can be easily ignored. The late symptoms of lung cancer include facial and neck edema, hoarseness, shortness of breath, pleural effusion, etc. Among the treatment methods of lung cancer, except for stage IIIb and IV, surgery or surgery should be the main treatment. Regarding the survival period of lung cancer after surgery, it is reported that the three-year survival rate is about 40% to 60%; the five-year survival rate is about 22% to 44%; the death rate of surgery is less than 3%. In addition, there are physical therapy (cryotherapy), chemotherapy and radiation therapy, but they are all withering treatments. Lung cancer surgery: 1. local resection; 2. lobectomy; 3. bronchial sleeve lobectomy; 4. total lung resection; 5. ramus resection and reconstruction. Radical lung cancer surgery is currently recognized worldwide as the treatment of choice for non-small cell lung cancer. The goal of surgery is to completely remove the primary tumor lesion in the lung, remove the hilar and mediastinal lymph nodes, and preserve as much healthy lung tissue as possible. The most common surgical procedure is lobectomy or total pneumonectomy with hilar and mediastinal lymph node dissection, which is called radical lung cancer surgery. Since the 1980s, our department has been carrying out various radical lung cancer operations, and in the early 1990s, we carried out tracheal ramification resection and reconstruction, and the success rate of the operation has reached the advanced level in China.
