Most cases of simple nail fungus are located in the first toe of the foot. One or both of the angles at the front of the toenail pierce deep into the nail groove and do not grow out. Every 2 weeks to 1 month, the toe will feel swollen and painful, and if you accidentally touch it, you will have a sharp pain that disappears when you cut it off with a knife, but it will appear again after a while. After prolonged walking or not trimming the toenail, the toe may become swollen and red, and even oozing and granulation-like tissue may appear at the nail groove.
Infection on one side due to a stump nail, best indication for minimally invasive treatment
What are the symptoms of nail fungus? It often occurs first under the skin of the nail groove on one side, manifesting as red, swollen and painful skin on the affected side, usually without symptoms of systemic infection. If the lesion develops, pus becomes present in the lesion and there is a feeling of fluctuation and white spots in the red and swollen area, but the pus does not easily break out. The majority of nail infections occur in the thumb, especially in the lateral nail groove of the thumb, which is about three times more common than the medial nail groove, and some patients have bilateral ingrown nails in the thumb or bilateral ingrown nails in both thumbs.
Etiology
The main germ is Staphylococcus aureus, which is often found on the surface of the skin. Infection can occur after various minor injuries to the hand, such as puncture wounds, abrasions, small cuts, nail clipping too deep, reverse peeling new skin barbs, etc.
1, Toenail cut too short, the soft tissue next to it will grow upward because there is no toenail to cover it, and as a result, the toenail grows out and stabs into the soft tissue.
2.Wearing unsuitable shoes. The front is too narrow, which will squeeze up the soft tissue of the toe, and over time, it will also form an ingrown nail.
3, the toe has been traumatized. Due to the injury, the toe produces a breakage, affecting the nail bed or nail mother cells when the toenail will also appear deformed.
4, In addition, infection of fungus, body fat, etc. are also triggering factors.
5.Very few people believe that it is caused by the stage of human evolution.
Precautions
1, develop good hygiene habits, do not pull out the barbs at will, once the barbs appear to be cut with scissors, do not pull out hard.
2, do not trim the nails too short, to avoid the nail bed exposed easily damaged, and cause infection.
3, hot water soaking water temperature to not exceed 42 ℃ is appropriate. To avoid scalding.
Treatment method
Iodophor application and soaking: Whenever there is a slight trauma or breakage of the toe, apply iodophor or soak the affected toe 2 to 6 times a day for 15 to 20 minutes each time until the skin turns white, using the disinfecting effect of iodophor to corrode the diseased skin tissue and let it grow again to prevent nail infection.
Herbal ointment treatment
Chinese ointment is a conservative treatment that works to reduce swelling and pain and detoxify the nail, and is suitable for patients with early onset nail infection. For moderate to severe cases of nail fungus, it can only provide relief.
Nail plucking
In fact, nail plucking is not a cure for nail fungus, especially when it is caused by ingrown nails, because the nail curls on both sides and grows into the flesh, cutting into the soft tissue at the edge of the nail when you walk, creating an “ingrown nail” and eventually causing nail fungus. Nail plucking only removes the nail fragments, but does not work on the nail groove and nail bed. The newly grown nail fragments will continue to grow into the flesh, resulting in ingrown nails, pain and nail infection.
Minimally invasive treatment.
By using special instruments to remove the residual nail embedded in the flesh and then using Chinese ointment for topical application, the nail infection will heal quickly and the nail disease will heal quickly, the nail will soften and gradually return to its normal form.
Prevention
1, usually take care of the skin around the nail, do not make any damage to it, nails should not be cut too short, not to use hands to pull “barbs”.
2, prevention is better than cure. Wooden thorns, bamboo thorns, sewing needles, fish bone thorns, etc. are the easiest foreign objects to pierce the nail groove in daily life, and should be extra careful when participating in labor or busy with household chores.
3, usually pay attention to finger care, after washing hands, before going to bed rub some Vaseline or skin cream, can enhance the skin around the nail groove resistance to disease.
4, the finger has a small injury, can be coated with 2% iodine, band-aid bandages to prevent infection.
6, if the pus has been septic should go to the hospital in time to cut, the pus drainage out. Prevent the infection from spreading and causing osteomyelitis of the finger bone.
7.If pus accumulates under the nail, the nail should be removed to facilitate adequate drainage and complete healing.
8, wear shoes of appropriate size, fat and thin, suitable and light shoes.
9, diligently cut toenails, cut into arcs, nail grooves on both sides of the tip of the toenail, do not casually cut the nail groove, found that the toes squeeze each other to apply the appropriate amount of sterilized cotton, soft objects into the toe seam to separate, so that the toes normal development, to prevent pressure on the toenail into the nail groove.
10, develop good hygiene habits, do not pull out the barbs at will, once the barbs appear to use scissors to cut, do not hard to pull out.
11, nail clipping should not be too short, fingers have tiny wounds, can be coated with tincture of iodine, with sterile gauze wrapping protection, to avoid infection.
