Do bladder cysts cause hematuria?

Bladder cysts do not usually produce hematuria. Bladder cysts, also known as bladder diverticula, are often the result of a long period of high pressure in the bladder due to urinary tract obstruction, so they cause a proliferation of small atrial trabeculae so that the mucosa of the bladder protrudes from the small square trabeculae, thus forming a cyst. It is a compensatory change, not a neoplastic or occupying lesion on the bladder, so it does not cause the bladder mucosa to break down and bleed, and no hematuria will occur. However, further cystoscopy at the hospital is needed to find out whether there are stones, tumors and other lesions within the bladder cyst, and tumors or stones can cause hematuria in patients. Also the vast majority of patients with bladder cysts may have secondary prostatic hyperplasia in men, where the prostate gland enlarges, increases in size and may cause bleeding after surface vascular varices. A bladder cyst alone will not cause bleeding and lead to hematuria. It is recommended to go to the hospital for further examination to determine the cause of the hematuria.
