Febuxostat tablets are a kind of uric acid-lowering drug. Febuxostat is a selective xanthine oxidase inhibitor, which can inhibit the production of uric acid and thus achieve the purpose of lowering blood uric acid, and is a new drug for the treatment of gout. It has good efficacy and safety in the treatment of gout caused by hyperuricemia. Compared to allopurinol, febuxostat has a faster rate of uric acid lowering and febuxostat does not require dose adjustment in patients with mild to moderate renal insufficiency and mild to moderate hepatic insufficiency. The drug is administered as 40 mg or 80 mg once daily for patients with hyperuricemia with gout symptoms. However, it is important to know that the drug is contraindicated in patients on azathioprine, mercaptopurine and cholecalciferol.
