There are many reasons for hip popping, which may be caused by physiological factors such as prolonged exposure to cold, or by pathologic factors such as trauma and osteoarthritis, and the etiology should be clarified in time.
1. Physiological factors: if the patient is in a cold state for a long time, the soft tissues such as the broad fascia tensor and gluteus medius muscle may contract and spasm when stimulated by cold, and friction may occur between the soft tissues and the greater trochanter of the femur during the activities, thus manifesting the popping sound of the hips.
2. Trauma: when the hip joint is damaged by external force, such as hip dislocation, the joint structure is damaged, and when the joint is moving, there is abnormal friction between the tissues, and the hip may pop.
3. Osteoarthritis: If osteoarthritis occurs in the hip joint, the bone cumbersome will be formed inside the joint, and at the same time, the soft tissue around the hip joint may be tense, and the joint space will be changed, which ultimately leads to the increase of friction between the bone and the soft tissues during the movement of the joint and causes popping sound in the hip.
If hip popping occurs, it is recommended that the patient consult a doctor as soon as possible to identify the cause of the disease and follow the doctor’s instructions for targeted treatment.
