At present, “excessive medical care” is commonplace, which is abhorrent to the people. I have been practicing medicine for 31 years and believe that “conscience” is the fundamental of a doctor, so I would like to propose five principles for the treatment of diseases for debate. 1, the principle of effectiveness: the most important basis for choosing a disease treatment method is “efficacy”. As a doctor, efficacy should be put first, no efficacy or efficacy is not sure of the drug (or therapy) should not be used, otherwise not only useless, but also very harmful. 2, the principle of simplicity: no matter what disease is treated, where a simple method to solve the problem, never use complex methods. Complex therapy is not necessarily good, simple therapy is not necessarily bad. 3, the principle of low cost: in the treatment of disease, we must also consider the cost of treatment, that is, the impact of treatment itself on the patient. The cost of treatment includes damage to the patient, complications, functional protection, etc. Never focus on the efficacy of treatment without regard to the damage. In particular, do not cure a disease, but triggered another disease; cure a damage, but triggered another damage; cure the organic disease, but triggered functional loss …… Therefore, once the treatment plan is made, in addition to considering the efficacy, but also consider the tissue damage, functional protection, complications, etc. 4, prospective principle: the doctor, not only treat the patient’s present, but also consider the patient’s future. Any treatment that is only concerned with the immediate future is not desirable. That is, when choosing a treatment method, must consider the impact of the treatment itself on the future health of the patient, as well as the impact of the subsequent further treatment effect. 5, the principle of economics: both to cure the disease, but also to spend less money (that is, the usual cost-effective), which is also the principle must be considered when practicing medicine. Although not always and everywhere can be achieved, but should be achieved as far as possible. If not, at least think about it and ask, is the efficacy proportional to the price?
