How to scrape varicose veins

The clinical treatment of varicose veins is not advocated by the method of gua sha, which is mainly based on the theory of meridians in Chinese medicine by repeatedly rubbing a specific scraping device on the skin surface to activate blood circulation and eliminate blood stasis, reduce swelling and relieve pain. Since most varicose veins are caused by congenital venous valve incompetence or poor closure, resulting in tortuous expansion of superficial veins in the lower extremities, the effect of gua sha alone is not particularly satisfactory for such varicose veins, and may cause the possibility of local bleeding and infection. Therefore, for varicose veins in the lower extremities, surgical treatment should be adopted, including traditional high ligation and stripping of the saphenous vein, laser radiofrequency ablation of the trunk, and treatment of varicose veins by local injection of sclerosing agents and spot stripping.
