Blindly copying prescriptions is better than not taking medicine

The people know that Chinese medicine is often effective in treating diseases without more prescriptions, and the efficacy is good. Over time some chronic disease patients are too lazy to queue up for medical treatment, but hang a general number to go straight to copy the prescription, sometimes a formula ate is half a year. But “copy prescription” in the end is good? “Copy prescription” and “effective not to change the prescription” are two different things. The effect of not changing the prescription is to continue to take the same drugs after the doctor’s diagnosis, at this time the patient’s diagnosis is clear, the treatment principles and methods are correct, after taking the medicine received a certain effect, symptoms, signs have been reduced, but has not completely achieved the purpose of the cure, and there are no obvious side effects, continue to take the original prescription to consolidate treatment, this is called “the effect of not changing the prescription This is called “effective not to change the prescription”. This is called “effective not to change the prescription”, which should be done under the guidance of a physician, and requires the physician to make a decision as to whether it is “effective” or “ineffective” based on the condition and response after taking the medicine. “Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as a patient “not changing a prescription” on his own. On the other hand, a patient who has taken a prescription without the guidance of a physician may feel that the medicine is working well, or he may think that “Chinese medicine is slow to work” and that he needs to continue to take the medicine in order to see results, so he decides to take the previous medicine on his own. From all angles, copying prescriptions has fewer advantages and more disadvantages. In short, there are five disadvantages: 1. Increase the risk of using medicine Many people think that Chinese medicine is non-toxic. In fact, it is not. As early as in the Zhouli, it was pointed out that drugs have their own bias. Although Chinese medicine has fewer side effects compared to Western medicine, it is important to know that Chinese medicine is also made up of various compounds, and if the same drugs are taken continuously for a long time without a doctor’s guidance, there is a risk of accumulation of poisoning. You may have heard of the incidents of adverse reactions to gentian and liver pills and Xiao Chai Hu granules. In the 1990s, Xiao Chai Hu granules were widely used in Japan for the treatment of various liver diseases, and a large number of patients took Xiao Chai Hu granules for a long time. In March 1996, the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare issued a “Warning on Interstitial Pneumonia, a serious side effect of Xiao Chai Hu Tang” in its “Emergency Safety Information” and on January 14, 2000, it issued a “Safety Information on Medical Devices, etc. On January 14, 2000, a general order was issued to prohibit the use of Xiao Chai Hu Tang for patients with hepatitis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. At the end of the last century and the beginning of this century, the Gentian and Liver Pill incident was also in full swing. As a traditional Chinese medicine for clearing heat, Gentian and Liver Pills are widely used in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, ENT and dermatology, etc. The effect is remarkable, and many patients with recurrent illnesses are cured as soon as they take them. Since it is an over-the-counter medicine, not only the doctors in hospitals prescribe a lot of applications, but also the people in the city usually “on fire”, often to their own pharmacies to buy and take. But because of the gentian diarrhea liver pill and Guanmutong, this drug contains aristolochic acid, nephrotoxic, long-term use of kidney failure, resulting in uremia. Many patients who have been taking the drug for a long time have developed this condition and eventually had to have their kidneys replaced or be treated with long-term dialysis. Gentian diarrhea liver pills, Xiao Chai Hu granules incident is the consequences of long-term improper use of drugs. 2, reduce the efficacy of drugs The most important feature of Chinese medicine is the diagnosis and treatment. What do you mean by “treating with evidence”? It is to adjust the prescription according to different situations. This is now often referred to as individualized treatment. The patient saves a little waiting time, but may not be taking the most appropriate medicine for several days or weeks afterwards. This is actually an initiative to give up the enjoyment of herbal medicine’s flexibility and adaptability to the individual’s strengths, and as a result, the patient cannot benefit from seeing a Chinese medicine practitioner. 3.Fostering misconceptions In medical services patients are consumers and have the right to be respected. However, most patients do not know much about TCM and think that TCM is also one medicine for one disease, and repeatedly ask doctors to take the medicine as prescribed: in fact, TCM doctors will prescribe different medicines for different people suffering from the same disease, at different stages and under different conditions. It is never as simple as one medicine for one disease. Patients should trust that doctors are knowledgeable, ethical and willing to cure their illnesses, and should not try to save time and omit normal treatment procedures. 4. Causing waste of medicine People who often ask for prescriptions are wage earners and are chronically ill. They are able to enjoy medical insurance or publicly funded medical treatment. On the one hand, they take medicine as their important welfare, and on the other hand, they have no time to wait for consultation due to work tension. So they only have to copy the prescription. However, it is important to know that drugs are different from food, they are biased and improperly used, they are bound to be harmful. If you take herbal medicine as Chinese medicine without a doctor’s consultation, the efficacy is bound to be low. For this reason, the patient will increase the amount of medication or prolong the time of taking medication, which will certainly cause unnecessary waste. 5, ignore the importance of psychological treatment Chinese medicine is a fusion of humanities and natural sciences. In the process of diagnosing and treating diseases, the communication between doctors and patients plays an important role in disease mitigation and healing. Blindly copying prescriptions destroys this communication (generally speaking, the utility of this communication accounts for about 30% of the total healing effect) and replaces it with a simple relationship of buying and selling medicine, which is really not a wise choice. So know this: time is tight, but health is more important. Chinese medicine, although relatively safe, needs to be applied under the guidance of a doctor. If you really value your health, we believe that you are able to schedule your visits to the doctor. If you really don’t have time, you must also know: it is better to blindly copy the prescription than not to take the medicine.
