Radiotherapy is usually not needed after hysterectomy for early stage uterine cancer, while radiotherapy is basically needed in other cases. Hysterectomy for uterine cancer is only one of the treatments. Whether radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other treatments are needed after surgery needs to be determined with the results of staging as well as pathological examination, and some people need radiotherapy treatment, but some people do not. Generally speaking, early stage uterine cancer patients can be cured by total uterine excision surgery, and can be cured without radiotherapy; however, if there is a high risk of recurrence or metastasis, radiotherapy is needed to remove the residual cancer cells and reduce the chance of recurrence. Most of the patients in middle and late stages need radiotherapy because surgery can only remove the tumor visible to the naked eye, and this stage is accompanied by lymphatic and distant tissue metastasis, so adjuvant radiotherapy is needed.
