Spinal shock is a phenomenon of loss of spinal cord function below the section when the spinal cord is severed from the higher center, mainly manifested by loss of sweating reflexes, weakened reflexes of the skin, loss of all muscle tension responses below the damaged spinal cord segment, and the presence of urinary retention, fecal retention, and other weakened or absent deep and superficial reflexes of all organs. It is common to see spinal cord and cervical spine injuries caused by trauma in car accidents, or upper lumbar spine injuries, and its severity is related to the injury site and the degree of segmental damage. Once spinal cord trauma occurs, medical attention should be sought quickly.
