What happens to nerve root cuff cysts?

A nerve root cuff cyst is a cystic lesion in the nerve root cuff area with internal cystic fluid that may cause compression of the nerve, and is mostly benign. The lesion is usually treated by surgical excision. After complete surgical removal of the nerve root cuff cyst, the patient’s clinical symptoms will be completely relieved, and it is generally not easy to recur. Patients should perform functional exercises after surgery to prevent the formation of local adhesions and to prevent recurrence of symptoms. Patients do not need to worry excessively even if they suffer from nerve root cuff cysts, as timely treatment will not affect the patient’s future life or the normal movement of the extremities.
