Adult Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

Hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) in adults is a common infectious disease caused by enteroviruses, mostly occurring in children under five years old, especially infants and young children, and its main source of infection is the patient or some hidden infected, mainly through the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, as well as close contact transmission. It is categorized into common type and severe type. In adults, HFMD is mostly common type, which mainly manifests as red maculopapular rash on the hands, feet, oral cavity and perianal skin, and then becomes herpes, which is more common on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, and some patients may have fever in the early stage of the disease. At present, there is no specific antiviral drug for HFMD, it is a self-limiting disease, the treatment is mainly symptomatic, the prognosis is better.
