What is heart-kidney disconnection

Heart-kidney disjunction refers to the symptoms of imbalance between heart and kidney water and fire. Most of the symptoms are caused by heat-related illnesses that lead to hyperactive heart fire, prolonged illnesses that deplete yin and fluid, indiscriminate intercourse, excessive thinking, and emotional disorders that cause fire. Clinical manifestations of heart-kidney disconnection include: irritability, palpitation, memory loss, insomnia, dizziness, tinnitus, dream loss, lumbar soreness, dry throat, dry tongue, irritable heat in the five hearts, red tongue, and fine pulse. There may be accompanying symptoms such as soreness in the lower back, heaviness in the lower limbs, and fear of cold. Heart is fire, heart fire can warm kidney water: kidney is water, kidney water can help heart fire, water and fire help each other, so that heart and kidney yin and yang can be balanced. If the kidney water is not enough, the heart fire will be exuberant, which will consume the kidney yin, making the heart and kidney not intermingle and appearing as a water deficiency and fire incandescence. The most classic formula for the treatment of heart-kidney disharmony is Jiaotai Pill, which is based on Huang Lian to exorcise heart fire and cinnamon to warm kidney water. If symptoms suspected of non-intercourse between the heart and kidneys occur, it is recommended to consult a Chinese medicine practitioner for diagnosis and proper treatment according to medical advice.
