Every October is Pink Ribbon Month, also known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Nowadays, the situation of breast cancer in our country is still very serious, there are more than 270,000 new breast cancer patients every year and the incidence rate is also increasing rapidly. For breast cancer patients, in addition to the principle of early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment. After the treatment is over, it turns into a long recovery period. During the recovery period of breast cancer, many breast cancer patients, the most fearful thing is the recurrence and metastasis of breast cancer. A study once found that many breast cancer patients feel worse when they learn about the recurrence and metastasis than when they are first diagnosed with breast cancer. In my usual work, almost every breast cancer patient will ask this question: How to prevent breast cancer recurrence and metastasis? In this regard, I summarize the key to prevent breast cancer recurrence into five aspects: follow medical advice, return regularly, keep your mouth shut, open your legs and laugh out loud: 1. The treatment of breast cancer is a comprehensive treatment including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, endocrine therapy, targeted therapy and so on. After breast cancer surgery, other treatments such as chemotherapy are often required. Since chemotherapy can have some side effects, some people will react more, resulting in a small number of patients not being able to adhere to it and discontinue chemotherapy. I suggest patients and doctors to fully communicate with each other, and they can take herbal seasoning to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, but I don’t recommend interrupting chemotherapy for this reason, which will not only affect the treatment effect, but also greatly increase the risk of recurrence and metastasis of breast cancer. The other is endocrine therapy, although the side effects are less, but because of the need to take endocrine therapeutic drugs for a long time, at least five years, or even longer, there are many patients who do not strictly follow the medical prescriptions. Some of them may miss one or two doses occasionally, but a considerable number of them just can’t stick to it and interrupt the endocrine treatment directly, and it’s too late to regret when the relapse and metastasis occur. This situation is very common in the clinic. 2.Timing back: strictly abide by the follow-up schedule. Every breast cancer patient is discharged from the hospital. The doctor will give a detailed account of the post-operative follow-up schedule. The purpose of post-operative follow-up is not only to detect abnormalities through a series of examinations, but also to track whether the patient has strictly followed the doctor’s requirements for treatment. For example, if the endocrine treatment mentioned above is several years long, we can find out whether the medication is taken on time and whether the relevant therapeutic effect is achieved during the regular follow-up visits. 3. Keep your mouth shut: maintain a healthy diet and do not take various health supplements or ancestral recipes at will. For breast cancer patients, there are no big taboos in diet, just like the principles of healthy diet for normal people. In general, it is recommended to eat less high-fat and high-tang foods, especially fried and barbecued foods, and most importantly, avoid foods that may contain estrogen. For example, snow clams, bird’s nest, royal jelly, hashish oil, etc.. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and so on. Other than that, there is no need to take special supplements, or to be especially careful with your diet, it is just about the same as your usual diet. It is worth reminding that special attention should be paid to various health supplements, ancestral secret recipes and other supplements. In clinical practice, many breast cancer patients often come to me with some health supplements and ask, “Doctor, can I take this? In fact, I don’t recommend health supplements in general because even regular health supplements may have some sugar added to them. The benefits to the body are not obvious. Some of the irregular ones are even more messy, and some even add hormones illegally. These supplements do not have any benefit for breast cancer recovery, and some of them even cause worse results. I am directly opposed to the so-called ancestral recipes. Just imagine, after the treatment in regular hospitals, doctors will not cure all diseases, but many so-called ancestral recipes are often advertised to cure all diseases and completely cure all kinds of difficult and complicated diseases. The result is that many patients believe in it and always feel that they should try it out. The result, needless to say, is certainly cheated, money was cheated not to mention that many patients for this interruption of normal treatment after the relapse of metastasis and had to go to the hospital again! Hospitals often encounter patients with such experiences. 4, open legs: In addition to post-operative rehabilitation training, usually do the right amount of exercise. Studies have confirmed that proper exercise can reduce the recurrence and mortality of breast cancer. Therefore, in addition to the post-operative rehabilitation, you must actively do moderate exercise in general. For example, walking, jogging, yoga, Tai Chi and so on should be adhered to every day. After the post-operative wound recovery, you can also dance with normal people, not only to exercise, but also to relieve the mood. 5, laugh out loud: keep a good mood and try to get out of the house. I know this point is easy to say, but it is really the most difficult to do. Most breast cancer patients, after learning about their disease, fall into fear, negative and sensitive emotions. This is due in large part to the fact that they do not understand the disease and think it is a terminal illness when they hear it is cancer. Therefore, it is recommended that breast cancer patients can learn about breast cancer through some reliable science platforms or books, which can eliminate some of their fears. It is also suggested that family members learn some knowledge about the disease and give them more care and warmth in general! Keep a good mood and try to get out of the house. Many patients, who tend to resist going out and stay at home alone, are prone to rumination, which leads to a lot of bad emotions. Many patients who went back to work after recovering from their wounds after surgery said: they felt much better after going to work and their days went by especially fast. The influence of good mood on disease really cannot be underestimated! It is a matter of planning and success. Doing the above five points can greatly reduce the recurrence rate of breast cancer. So the key to prevent the recurrence of breast cancer is not in the doctor, but in the patients themselves and their families!
