Rice grains choking the trachea rotting for a few days

The decay of rice grains choking into the trachea in a few days is related to a variety of factors and there is no exact time. Choking of rice grains into the trachea, i.e., a foreign body in the trachea, often occurs while eating, talking, or playing. The first stage can lead to severe irritating cough and temporary dyspnea, and the later stage can gradually recover smoothly. The time required for the rice grain to decay after choking into the trachea varies, with some patients decaying after 2-3 days and some taking 2-3 weeks to decay. If the rice grain is small and in the common bronchus, it can usually be coughed up through the vocal cords and via the cough reflex; if it enters the tiny bronchi, it can be removed by fiberoptic bronchoscopy at the respiratory medicine department. Usually, if there is a dry and itchy throat with foreign body sensation, most of the symptoms indicate that the rice grains have decayed and led to the occurrence of infection, which can cause aspiration pneumonia in severe cases. In some patients, if a foreign body exists in the bronchial tube for a short period of time, it may cause laryngospasm and lead to death by asphyxiation, so early consultation with the ENT department is recommended. In addition, patients are advised to avoid over-eager meals and avoid talking in daily life to prevent choking of rice grains into the trachea.
