Cure rate of bladder cancer malignancy

Bladder cancer is a malignant tumor and cannot achieve complete cure at the genetic level. Even after surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, there is still a possibility of metastasis and recurrence in the long term, so it is only a clinical remission. For bladder cancer of different grades, its prognosis is different and the treatment effect is also different. For early bladder cancer, after active surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, about 60% of patients can achieve clinical cure, but lifelong follow-up is required. If metastasis or recurrence occurs later, surgery or radiotherapy or chemotherapy will be required. For advanced bladder cancer, that is, bladder malignancy, the effect of clinical remission is about 10%-20%, even after treatment, there can be recurrence, and even some patients have lost the chance of surgery, which can only serve the purpose of symptomatic pain relief, reducing bleeding and improving patient’s urination. For mid-stage bladder cancer, if the patient is actively treated with surgery or radiotherapy or chemotherapy after detection, a clinical remission rate of about 30% can be achieved, and lifelong follow-up is required. If tumor recurrence or metastasis is found, treatment still needs to be continued.
