Chronic pharyngitis usually coughs up sputum without blood. It is divided into chronic simple pharyngitis, chronic hypertrophic pharyngitis, atrophic pharyngitis, dry pharyngitis.
Symptoms of chronic pharyngitis are foreign body sensation in the pharynx, slight pain, itching and burning sensation, etc. Usually there are no obvious systemic symptoms, and there can be irritating cough in the morning, no sputum, or just coughing up granular couch powder-like secretions.
1. Chronic simple pharyngitis: examination may reveal mucosal congestion, vasodilatation, scattered lymphoid follicular hyperplasia in the posterior pharyngeal wall, and a small amount of secretion attached to the mucosa.
2. Chronic hypertrophic pharyngitis: Examination can find mucosal congestion and thickening, lymphoid follicular hyperplasia in the posterior pharyngeal wall is obvious. The main symptoms include foreign body sensation and burning sensation in the pharynx.
3. Atrophic pharyngitis: less common, the examination can find the mucous membrane dry, atrophy, thinning, sometimes coughing out the scab with odor, the pharynx can have a dry feeling.
4. Dry pharyngitis: the examination performance is similar to the symptoms of atrophic pharyngitis.
Chronic pharyngitis has a long course and is more difficult to be cured completely, if you find coughing up sputum with blood, it is recommended to go to the hospital for examination in a timely manner.
