Popliteal cysts do not disappear on their own. Once found, popliteal cysts only grow larger and larger, and gradually, as they increase in size, they gradually produce compression of the surrounding soft tissues, nerves and blood vessels, especially compression of the blood vessels in the popliteal fossa, which can easily lead to impaired return flow, resulting in swelling and pain in the lower leg, and even affecting the sensation and movement of the lower leg in severe cases. Even after surgery to remove popliteal cysts, some of the cysts may recur because many of the walls of popliteal cysts extend into the knee joint, and even after surgery to remove them, most of them will still have a chance of recurrence.
