Pain for a few days after pediatric hypospadias

Hypospadias is divided into light and heavy, into glans type, penile body type and penile-scrotal junction type. For different hypospadias subtypes, the level of trauma of surgery and the recovery time after surgery are different. For mild hypospadias, the catheter is usually left in place for 5-7 days after surgery, and the dressing is usually removed in 5 days. The child’s pain will be relieved after the catheter is removed, and the recovery is relatively fast. In case of penile corporal or penile scrotal junction type hypospadias, the catheter needs to be left in place for at least 10-14 days after surgery. The bandage is usually removed for 5 days when the catheter is left in place, and the incision wound will be edematous and painful after removal, especially when the catheter is left in place, the child will have pain not only from the incision, but also from pulling the catheter and moving around. The catheter in the bladder can cause excessive bladder spasms, called bladder irritation. This symptom is called bladder irritation at night, for example, the child will cry very much between 10-12 pm, which is the occurrence of bladder irritation, and requires the use of ibuprofen suppositories, or 654-2, to rest the bladder, which can help the child get through.
