Can you eat breakfast with an MRI?

Whether or not a patient can eat breakfast before an MRI exam is mainly related to the area where the patient is being examined and the type of MRI being done. If it is an MRI plain scan, patients who do abdominal examination need to fast because the meal will affect the filling of bile in the gallbladder, which will affect the display of gallbladder lesions, and excess gas in the intestine will also produce artifacts and finally affect the results of diagnosis. If the examination is done on the head, extremities, neck and lumbar spine, fasting is not required and the patient can eat breakfast. If the patient is having an enhanced MRI, no matter which part is done, the patient is required to fast as much as possible in order to avoid serious complications such as asphyxia due to allergic reactions during the examination.
