As a traditional Chinese medicine, there is no authoritative study that shows that poria is clearly harmful to the kidneys. Poria is the dried mycelium of the fungus poria, family Polyporaceae. It is sweet and light in flavor and flat in nature. Attributed to the kidney and bladder meridians. It has the effect of inducing diuresis and seeping dampness (promoting the flow of water to dispel dampness). It is used for dysuria (unsmooth urination), edema, diarrhea, gonorrhea, and leucorrhea. Poria mushroom with Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae has the effect of strengthening the spleen and benefiting qi, seeping dampness and inducing diuresis. It is used for watery diarrhea, urination, body fatigue and dullness (no appetite, reduced food intake) with dampness and obstruction in the middle, and disorders of clearing and separating turbidity; poria with dahabi has the effect of removing edema and flatulence. Suitable for edema, distension and urinary incontinence. Poria has a strong water-inducing effect, and should not be used if there is no water-dampness in the body and excessive urination. It is recommended that patients use the drug under the guidance of a doctor, do not take the drug on their own.
