Early symptoms of cataract

Partial or total clouding of the lens due to various causes is called cataract. The main symptoms are painless and progressive vision loss and blurred vision, but early patients are asymptomatic or have no obvious symptoms and are often detected during eye examinations. However, the following symptoms can be used for early detection of cataract: 1. Loss of vision and blurred vision: These are the main symptoms of cataract. The loss of vision and blurred vision are caused by clouding of the lens. The speed and degree of vision loss are different depending on the location of the clouding. However, in the early stage of most cataracts, the patients’ vision loss is very little and the blurred vision is very light, so it is not easy to find.

2. Other early symptoms: If a patient has a fixed black shadow in front of the eye, especially when reading a book or watching TV, visual fatigue, seeing heavy shadows or the patient describes seeing things a little unclear, cataract should be considered at this time. Cataracts may also be caused by elderly patients who present to the clinic with complaints of increased myopia, or new myopia, or presbyopia that was high but has now decreased or recovered in degree.

In summary, early cataracts are mostly asymptomatic, and some patients have slightly decreased vision or slightly blurred vision.
