What to do if you are not satisfied with the results of rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty can result in candidates being dissatisfied with the results of their rhinoplasty due to an unnatural nasal shape, infection, and displacement of the prosthesis. Candidates who have not resolved this issue can speak with their plastic surgeon to see if it can be corrected again. Rhinoplasty must be performed on a case-by-case basis, depending on the patient’s gender, face shape, and pre-existing condition of the bridge of the nose. It is not possible to create an aesthetically pleasing curve in the nose by placing the same mold of silicone rubber nasal bridge prosthesis into the nose. The operator should refer to the aesthetic parameters of the nose, such as the size, length, width, thickness, curvature or radius of the nasal prosthesis model, the depth of the bottom surface and the occlusal notch of the nasal bone, etc., which need to be designed and sculpted according to the specific conditions of the patient. If the candidate is not satisfied with the rhinoplasty result, we should try to deal with it as early as possible to find out the reason, if it is because of the problem of the prosthesis, it must be taken out and then trimmed. The prosthesis can also be replaced until the candidate is satisfied with the postoperative nasal curve. In case of rounded nose and excessive deformation of nostrils, it is recommended to remove the suture fixation pins of the inner foot of both nasal cartilages. If the skin of the nose changes, the prosthesis should be removed in time and reopened after six months. For the occurrence of scarring and granulation hyperplasia, the granulation should be scraped off and the scar removed. For those with perforation and those who can pull together the suture, 1-stage suture is feasible. For those with large incisions, the flap method of repair can be considered.
