Patient: Hi, my mother is 68 years old, she was found to have adenoid cystic carcinoma of the sublingual abdomen in July 2010, and had resection surgery, and was found to have metastases in both lungs in December 2011, the largest being 1.1 x 0.9, and is now undergoing chemotherapy. Is it possible to do CIK for a case like my mother’s? What are the results? Qing Xi: 70% of the metastasis of adenoid cystic carcinoma occurs after surgery. At present, we do not recommend surgery for adenoid cystic carcinoma, and after clear pathology, radioactive particles are implanted in the primary focus, so that most of them will not metastasize early. Regular review of chest X-ray, if lung metastasis is found, gamma knife treatment will be performed, which is not sensitive to chemotherapy and the benefit ratio is too low.
