Racemic scopolamine tablets are not recommended for long-term use.
Racemic scopolamine tablets can relax the smooth muscle of gastrointestinal tract and inhibit gastrointestinal peristalsis, and are suitable for relieving smooth muscle spasm, gastrointestinal colic, biliary tract spasm, and organophosphorus poisoning. Adverse reactions include dry mouth, red face, blurred vision, rapid heartbeat, etc. It is contraindicated in people with increased intracranial pressure, acute stage of cerebral hemorrhage, glaucoma, pyloric obstruction, intestinal obstruction and prostatic hypertrophy.
Racemic scopolamine tablets are mainly used for short-term relief of symptoms, play a supplementary therapeutic role, therefore, long-term use is not recommended, not only may increase the probability of adverse reactions, but also may cover up the condition and delay the timing of treatment.
Therefore, scopolamine tablets need to follow the doctor’s instructions, not blindly use their own medication, and should avoid long-term use, so as not to cause adverse consequences.
