Parkinson’s generalized rigidity is not a late manifestation, but a characteristic clinical manifestation of Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative disease that mainly involves the extrapyramidal system. Patients generally show signs and symptoms of the extrapyramidal system, mainly abnormalities of muscle tone. In the early stages, patients may develop resting tremor, often starting in the distal upper extremity and gradually extending to the ipsilateral lower extremity and contralateral upper extremity. Patients may also develop myotonia, which is mainly manifested as an increase in both flexor and extensor muscle tone, and may show leadpipe and cogwheel-like myotonia on examination. Patients may also have bradykinesia, which is mainly characterized by slow movements and reduced random movements. In advanced patients, the main manifestation is abnormal posture and gait, which can lead to postural instability, easy falls and fractures. It seriously affects the quality of life of patients and is one of the main causes of disability of the disease.
