Can I get hormone shots if I’m not deficient in growth hormone but I’m short?

Blind hormone injections are also usually not recommended if there is no growth hormone deficiency but one is very short. However, if there is a clear diagnosis, injections can be given with a doctor’s permission.
Growth hormone promotes the growth of bones and the whole body and plays a key role in human growth and development. However, if people with short stature are not deficient in growth hormone and do not have other underlying diseases, hormone injections are not recommended to grow taller. In particular, growth hormone should not be used to grow taller after the epiphysis has completely closed.
Blindly injecting growth hormone may cause edema, nerve and muscle pain, numbness and tingling of the skin, and other adverse effects, and increase the risk of diabetes.
However, if the short stature is caused by Noonan syndrome, SHOX gene defects, or chondrodysplasia, growth hormone can be used according to medical advice.
