Cetuximab outperforms bevacizumab for metastatic colorectal cancer

Two well-known targeted therapy drugs for advanced colorectal cancer, who is better?ASCO 2013 gives a preliminary answer, first-line treatment of KRAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer, cetuximab is better than bevacizumab, which is limited to the combination of the two FOLFIRI regimen, the survival time of the two groups are 28.7 months, 25 months. However, for the two combined with the FOLFOX regimen, I believe the answer will be available soon. What are the results for metastatic colorectal cancer with k-ras mutation type? Last year, German scholar Stintzing published in Ann Oncol that for first-line treatment of KRAS-mutated metastatic colorectal cancer, the efficiency of cetuximab combined with FOLFIRI and bevacizumab combined with FOLFIRI were 44% and 48%, respectively, and the progression-free survival time was 7.5 months and 8.9 months, respectively, and the overall survival time was 22.7 months and 18.7 months, respectively. In terms of progression-free survival time, it seems that bevacizumab combined with FOLFIRI is better, but in terms of survival time, cetuximab combined with FOLFIRI is better (4 months more). In this study, there were 50 and 46 patients in the two groups, respectively. If the sample is further expanded, the survival time may be statistically different, that is, cetuximab in combination with FOLFIRI is better than bevacizumab in combination with FOLFIRI. At present, it can be tentatively speculated that cetuximab in combination with FOLFIRI is better than bevacizumab in combination with FOLFIRI in the first-line treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer.
