How can I prevent schizophrenia in the spring?

”As the flowers bloom in spring and everything recovers, it is the season for the recurrence of mental illnesses, the most serious of which is schizophrenia. Schizophrenia can be controlled through treatment, but the key is to treat it as early as possible and to continue to regulate it. Without continuous treatment, an average of three out of every four patients will relapse, and the condition will get worse. Early manifestations of schizophrenia: 1. There is a difference between the person he or she used to be and the person he or she is now, with a change in personality. The person used to be very sunny, but now he or she is not normal. The person used to be cheerful, but now he or she is cautious, suspicious and narrow-minded. This situation requires prompt medical attention. 2, different from the next person He is different from the people around him, different from the code of conduct that we often follow. For example, on an occasion when he should be grieving, he laughs and is happy instead. In a very serious occasion, this person can’t hold it, and makes a lot of behavior that is against the social norms and code of conduct, and even has violated laws and regulations. 3. Appears strange The mental activity is a whole, and as a result, this person is not a whole anymore, and should be considered to be sent to the hospital for examination. He is thinking of a thing that is not worthy of sorrow, but he shows emotions that are sad and makes impulsive actions. The unity and integrity of his own internal mental activity is destroyed. For those who are suspected of having the above signs of mental abnormality, family members are advised to take them to a specialist hospital for further examination in a timely manner. The key to relapse prevention: taking medication on time 1. Early treatment: Immediate treatment with the disease is not a problem for any other disease, but not for patients with mental illness. Studies have found that schizophrenia patients have a hesitation period of about 1.5 years from the onset of the disease to the time they go for treatment, and many patients do not think they have a disease at first. In other words, the average patient goes to a doctor for treatment 1.5 years after the onset of the illness. It is important to treat schizophrenia as early as possible, but it is never too late to start treatment. This follows the rationale of “mending the fold”. 2. Psychiatric treatment is the primary treatment, supplemented by other departments: Many patients with mental illness often go to other departments first, such as Chinese medicine, neurology, internal medicine, etc., losing the opportunity for the most specialized doctors to intervene as early as possible. Therefore, the psychiatrist should be the main focus, always go to the psychiatrist first. 3. Medication is the main treatment, supplemented by psychological and social treatment: medication is the most important. The reason why schizophrenia patients do not comply well with treatment, experts believe that in addition to economic factors, prejudice may be a reason why some patients are afraid that drugs have side effects and feel that they will become stupid and dull after taking these drugs and get mentally controlled. In fact, there are now some new drugs, like amisulpride and so on. These new drugs have significantly reduced side effects and can reduce the patient’s sense of shame. 4, drug treatment must be “enough amount, enough time”: the first onset of patients should adhere to the medication for one to two years, the average is about two years. The second onset of the disease, it is about 5 years of continuous medication, if three times the onset of the disease or never remission in the past, most of the need for lifelong medication. Patients must have enough patience to treat and seize the golden period of treatment. If treated continuously, the risk of relapse of the disease is only 3% within one year of continuous medication, otherwise 77% of patients will relapse within one year. Ninety-five percent of patients relapse within two years. Of course, treating the symptoms of the disease is only part of the equation for patients with schizophrenia. Rehabilitation is essential to get the patient back into society and back home. This area also requires many efforts beyond medication, including improving the social environment and eliminating discrimination. Why are men with schizophrenia more severely ill than women? When men have schizophrenia, it is usually more severe than in women. This is because there are five “more” things about men: men tend to get the disease earlier, their symptoms are more severe, their brain changes are more pronounced, their treatment is less effective, and they cause more harm. Why are women better off? It is mainly believed that estrogen has some protective effect on the human nervous system, and often when women have schizophrenia, many of them have better healing and treatment results than men, as long as they get some treatment. The prevalence of schizophrenia is very high, about 1.3%. Based on this projection, there are about 17.8 million schizophrenics in mainland China. And schizophrenia mostly occurs in young adults. Half of these patients do not receive treatment. And among those who do get treatment, only about half of them get standardized treatment. Once they have schizophrenia, the social functioning of the patient is deteriorating and it is difficult to recover to the original level. Not only is schizophrenia mentally distressing, but the resulting physical risks are also very high. People with schizophrenia have a high rate of cardiovascular disease and smoking, more weight gain, and a higher rate of diabetes and hypertension. Also people with schizophrenia are at high risk for violence.
