Irinotecan, or irinotecan hydrochloride injection, is not a big side effect if diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, etc. occur. However, the occurrence of intestinal perforation, etc. is more serious.
Irinotecan belongs to comedones derivatives, which is the first-line drug for advanced colorectal cancer, and can also be used for postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy; it is also effective in lung cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and so on.
The visible adverse effects of this drug include diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, dehydration, constipation, anorexia, abdominal pain, neutropenia, anemia, thrombocytopenia, alopecia, muscle contraction, spasms, etc. The side effects are generally mild.
It is important to note that there is also the possibility of adverse reactions such as interstitial pneumonitis, intestinal colic, intestinal obstruction, gastrointestinal bleeding, intestinal perforation, and acute cholinergic syndrome with the use of this product. This is more serious in this case.
The drug is contraindicated in people with chronic inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal obstruction, a history of severe allergic reactions to the product, pregnancy, lactation, severe bone marrow failure.
