How to treat pathological jaundice

When pathological jaundice occurs, it is important to receive treatment in a hospital, otherwise it can leave sequelae or even be life-threatening. The main treatments for pathological jaundice are light therapy, blood exchange therapy and medication. 1.Medication: It must be taken under the doctor’s prescription. Enzyme inducers: phenobarbital, side effects include drowsiness and slow sucking of milk. Nicosamide, take orally in divided doses. 2, blue light treatment (1) is generally believed that the wavelength of blue light at 440-470nm has the strongest effect on bilirubin, it can make bilirubin oxidation into a non-toxic water-soluble products, so that the jaundice deposited in the skin as soon as possible through the stool, urine out of the body, so this method is commonly used to treat baby jaundice. (2) Blue light irradiation therapy is recognized as a safe treatment for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. First, the baby is allowed to lie in the phototherapy box, with both eyes and genital organs covered and the rest exposed, and then irradiated with blue light. (3) Intermittent blue light irradiation is mostly used clinically, stopping re-irradiation after 6-12 hours of irradiation, while monitoring the bilirubin level until the bilirubin drops to within the normal range, and then deciding whether to stop treatment according to the neonatal hourly bilirubin curve. (4) For children with congenital abnormalities of bilirubin metabolism, their bilirubin levels are prone to recurrence, and the irradiation time should be relatively longer. 3.Intravenous infusion of albumin: such as injection of albumin to adsorb bilirubin in the serum, and then excrete it out of the body. 4, blood exchange therapy: blood exchange is the most rapid and effective method of neonatal jaundice, but blood exchange requires high medical technology and is more expensive, and not every jaundiced baby is suitable for blood exchange therapy, and this therapy may also produce some adverse reactions, so this therapy is mainly used for babies with severe pathological jaundice. 5, strengthen feeding: breastfeeding 8-12 times a day, to promote the baby’s positive digestion and excretion, accelerate the bilirubin out of the body, reduce reabsorption back into the blood.
