What to expect after rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is an operation to repair, rectify or recreate the nose. It is commonly used for those who have deformed or deficient noses caused by developmental deformities, inflammation, trauma, etc., in order to restore the function of the nose and improve facial appearance. What are the precautions to be taken after rhinoplasty? The day after surgery: Ice pack immediately after surgery and for 24-48 hours can significantly reduce post-operative bleeding and swelling; furthermore, if possible, taking a semi-recumbent position can also reduce post-operative swelling; do less head-lowering movements; use antibacterial agents for 3-5 days as prescribed by the doctor. The first day after surgery: clean the nasal wound, and depending on the situation, remove the nasal stuffing, swelling in and around the nose. The second day after surgery: the swelling further increases. The third day after surgery: the swelling may be the heaviest day, or the swelling may start to subside. The fourth and fifth day after surgery: swelling begins to subside, at this time you can start to apply hot compresses and remove the nasal fixation tape depending on the situation. The sixth day after surgery: the swelling continues to subside, and the nasal cavity can basically be ventilated. The seventh and eighth day after surgery: the wound stitches are removed and the outline of the nose is basically visible. There may be slight bruising. One month after surgery: the nasal contour is visible on review, but the results of the surgery cannot be fully assessed yet. Six months to one year after surgery: the results of the nasal surgery can be evaluated, and if necessary, repair surgery can be performed at this time.
