Can eating disorders be consulted by phone?

Eating disorders are different from other psychiatric disorders in that, first, in addition to psychological suffering, physical damage is also urgently needed to be dealt with; second, patients can often maintain good social functioning despite the effects of a fairly serious illness, remaining excellent students, active workers, agile, resourceful, and far from the public’s image of the ‘mentally disturbed patient Third, in addition to the treatment of physical damage, psychotherapy is the most important treatment for this disease, which is a relatively long-term process, and psychotherapy during the recovery period is an important and indispensable part of the treatment process. Fourth, this disease mostly affects adolescents, and the whole family suffers from it. The interaction among family members affects the occurrence, development and outcome of the disease, so family treatment and counseling are urgently needed. Fifth, compared with other mental illnesses, this is a relatively rare disease, and there are few experienced professionals and limited specialized treatment institutions in China. At present, a complete and powerful treatment team has been developed, and the service targets include patients with eating disorders nationwide, and the service forms have been developed to include inpatient treatment, outpatient treatment, eating disorder lecture series and fellowship, etc. However, it is still difficult to meet the needs of the majority of patients who intend to come to the clinic, need follow-up consultation, and need guidance and consultation during the recovery period.
