Keloid scars can be caused by skin injuries such as vaccination (needlestick), acne, mosquito bites, ear piercing, etc., or can be caused by no obvious trigger. Proliferative scarring usually occurs at the site of surgery and trauma. The itching is obvious and the lesion is limited to the original injury site, without infiltrative growth to the surrounding area.
The main treatment methods are as follows: 1) surgery; 2) medication; 3) physical therapy Since single treatment is not effective for keloid and hyperplastic keloid, comprehensive treatment is advocated: e.g. “surgery + radiotherapy + hormone injection”, etc. In view of the fact that keloid is more prone to recurrence than hyperplastic keloid, the treatment period of keloid is longer. The treatment period of keloid is longer than that of hyperplastic keloid, and it also requires the patient’s patience and cooperation.
