In fairy tales, the seven dwarfs and Snow White live happily in the big forest; however, in real life, short stature brings a lot of troubles to children and parents. The etiology of dwarfism is quite complex, except for dwarfism caused by non-disease factors such as genetic factors and delayed youth development, most of them are pathological dwarfism, including idiopathic dwarfism, growth hormone deficiency, precocious puberty, bone development disorder, chromosomal abnormalities, intrauterine growth retardation and Turner syndrome. Zhang Xia’er of the Department of Pediatrics, The First Affiliated Hospital of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Experts at the Pediatric Growth and Development Clinic of The First Affiliated Hospital of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine remind parents that dwarfism is a treatable disease, but it is important to seize the opportunity to treat it. In order to give children a chance to grow taller and let parents know more about “how to make children grow taller”, the pediatric growth and development clinic of the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan College of Traditional Chinese Medicine invited Professor Wang Xiuying, a well-known expert from the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University of Science and Technology and an expert who enjoys the special allowance of the State Council, to come to our hospital to hold a lecture on the health of children with dwarfism and free consultation activities.
