After applying ergotamine preparation, the pain of migraine patients will mostly be reduced and relieved, which is not characteristic of any other types of headache, and can be used as a method to identify migraine, which is similar to Chinese medicine’s medicine to measure the evidence. Stress and anxiety can aggravate migraine, and taking drugs and foods such as alcohol, nitrites, nitroglycerin, ice cream and birth control pills can aggravate or trigger migraine, while overexertion, excessive sleep, hunger and menstruation can also aggravate migraine, which is not a specific manifestation but can be used as a reference basis for migraine diagnosis. Headaches caused by tumors and other causes of increased intracranial pressure are often aggravated by head and neck activities, coughing and exertion; headaches caused by acute inflammation of cervical muscles are aggravated by neck activities; while myoconstriction headaches related to occupation are alleviated by neck activities; upright position can aggravate low cranial pressure and myoconstriction headaches, but alleviate cluster headaches. Headaches caused by structural disorders are mostly relieved, at least to some extent, by the application of analgesics, which is not the case for headaches caused by psychological factors; hypertensive headaches are relieved by a decrease in blood pressure; headaches in patients with intracranial hypertension are significantly reduced by the application of dehydrating agents. These aggravating and relieving factors can only be used as a reference basis to distinguish migraine from other headaches.
