Chinese medicine treatment of constipation

Constipation is a common condition, with a high prevalence in women and a rising incidence in people over 60 years of age. Most constipation has no obvious cause and is called functional constipation. Types of constipation: Colonic weakness (also known as slow transit): refers to a significant prolongation of the time it takes for stool to pass from the cecum to the rectum. This may be due to diffuse neuromuscular dysfunction of the colon, resulting in a reduced number of evacuations. Outlet obstruction type (also known as pelvic floor muscle coordination disorder type): refers to anorectal dysfunction that weakens rectal emptying, including various anatomical and functional abnormalities that cause difficulty in defecation and a sense of incomplete defecation. Chinese medicine treatment of constipation: chronic transmission type constipation is mostly deficiency constipation, due to deficiency of positive energy, also known as Yang knot, mainly due to weakness of lung, spleen and kidney. Exit obstruction type constipation has the distinction between deficiency and reality. Sluggish outlet constipation is deficiency constipation, due to deficiency of middle qi, deficiency of qi in the lower trap, and inability to transport and transform. Exit-retarded constipation is a real constipation, mostly due to liver depression and qi stagnation, heat accumulation in the intestines and stomach, or yin-cold stagnation and abdominal qi obstruction. Chinese medicine treatment can be used to tonify Qi and Yin, moisten the bowels, strengthen the spleen, tonify Qi, tonify blood and moisten the bowels, tonify the kidneys, nourish Yin and moisten the bowels, promote the lung to clear heat and moisten the bowels, and dredge the liver to regulate Qi and moisten the bowels.
